Dewar and Flask vase, David Derksen

The Dewar Glassware collection is the outcome from a continuing investigation into the beauty, forms and manufacturing techniques found in scientific glassware.

The project is named after James Dewar who invented the Dewar flask or isolating container. Based on the manufacturing principles and construction of the Dewar flask, David Derksen designed the ‘Dewar Vase’ as a tribute to scientific glass ware. The glass is partnered with a cork ring, nodding to the material combinations found in laboratories.
